We are excited to announce our newest team member, Joshua Samontanez. Joshua is joining RunSignup as a mobile/web developer on the RaceDay Team. To welcome Josha to our team and to give him the opportunity to tell his story, we spent time learning more about him both personally and professionally. Read on to get to know Joshua!
Where are you from, and where do you currently reside?
I am from the Philippines and currently live in Florida.
Please tell us a little more about your background.
Currently, I am pursuing a BS degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Central Florida and am set to graduate in Fall 2023. During my time in school, I have learned programming languages such as Java, C++. and Python, and have experience with different tools and IDEs such as Visual Studio Code and IntelliJ.
In terms of work experience, I have built websites before, which helped me gain experience with HTML, CSS, React, and JavaScript. I also have some experience with database management using SQL, and have worked on projects that involved data analysis and machine learning. And I am always eager to learn new skills and take on new challenges.
What are you most looking forward to in joining the RunSignup | TicketSignup team?
I’m most looking forward to gaining valuable experience in the field. I believe that working with a team of talented professionals will allow me to learn new skills and techniques that I can use to grow both personally and professionally.
Tell us about your hobbies and interests, and what you like to do for fun outside of work.
I enjoy working out, running, hiking, and building Gundam model kits. These activities keep me active and allow me to explore new places and stay mentally and physically healthy.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I love going on road trips. I find it exciting to explore new places I haven’t been, and I enjoy the freedom of just going wherever I please.
