Endurance Event Post Covid Comeback from 2019

There has been wide speculation on the growth of endurance events since Covid.

RunSignup keeps track of Year over Year comparisons of the same events (eg. events that happened in both 2024 and 2025 on our platform). This gives us the ability to do an apples to apples comparison of growth rates each year. So we decided to put the data together.

And the data says that the average endurance event in 2025 has 8% more participants than pre-pandemic in 2019.

Here is a summary of the changes each year. Note 1: This is for events over 500 participants. Note 2: This is a growing set of customers each year mirroring the growing number of races using RunSignup.

Summary

The good news is that there is growth in endurance events. Not as huge as some of the speculation we have heard (of course there is a wide range of growth rates for individual events).

We will have more data to share when our full Annual Trends report comes out soon.
