RaceDay CheckIn v63 is all about making race-day operations feel smoother, clearer, and more dependable for staff at the tent, on the course, or at a kiosk. This release improves the manual bib entry experience, makes label printing more reliable, clarifies review prompts to reduce accidental mistakes, and helps participant updates show up more consistently across devices.
A Clearer Bib Entry Flow
Manual bib entry is now easier when scanning isn’t possible
The camera scan flow is built for fast check-ins, but race-day conditions don’t always cooperate. When a bib can’t be scanned, staff now have a clearer way to switch into manual entry and override the scan flow without losing momentum.
Why this matters: Volunteers usually want to scan bibs whenever they can, but every race has a few exceptions. A damaged bib, a bad camera angle, glare, or a QR code that simply won’t read. When that happens, a clear manual override keeps check-in moving instead of forcing staff to figure out a workaround.
The manual entry screen behaves better on tablets and phones
We also improved how the manual bib entry screen handles the on-screen keyboard so it feels more predictable on devices where screen space is tight.
Why this matters: Small interface glitches can slow down volunteers in busy check-in areas. Better keyboard behavior makes the scan screen easier to use and less frustrating.
Better Label Printing
Long text now fits more gracefully
Label printing now handles longer values more intelligently, so fields can shrink to better fit the available space.
Why this matters: Names, team names, and other printed details aren’t always short. Better fitting text helps labels stay readable and professional-looking.
Label fields won’t be skipped unexpectedly
We also fixed a case where fields used in a label could be ignored if they were hidden in the preset’s information display settings.
Why this matters: This makes label configuration more reliable and reduces surprises when printing at the event.
Safer Check-In Review Prompts
Clearer save and discard choices
We updated the check-in review flow to make it much harder for volunteers to accidentally throw away a partially completed check-in. The new prompts and button labels are clearer about what will be saved and what will be lost when switching between linked registrations or leaving an in-progress check-in.
Why this matters: In the field, volunteers are moving fast and often handling partial groups. When the wrong button is easy to hit, participants can be marked as checked in or handed bibs without the record being saved properly. This release is aimed at preventing that kind of accidental data loss during live check-in.
More Reliable Participant List Updates
Changes now appear more consistently after sync
Participant lists now refresh more reliably when the app syncs changes from another device.
Why this matters: Race day often involves multiple check-in stations. When one device updates a participant, everyone else needs to see that change quickly to avoid duplicate check-ins or confusion.
Stability and Status Improvements
Better long-running reliability
This release also includes fixes aimed at reducing slowdowns that can build up over time and improving stability on Android devices.
Why this matters: Check-in apps are often left running for hours. Stability improvements help keep the app dependable from setup through the last finisher.
Clearer connectivity messaging
We improved status messaging so connectivity and “no results found” style banners are easier to understand.
Why this matters: When something looks wrong on the screen, staff should be able to tell quickly whether it is a real issue or just a normal empty state.
What’s next?
If you’re running RaceDay CheckIn at your event, we recommend updating to v63 before your next race so your team can benefit from the clearer workflows, more reliable sync behavior, and improved stability.
