This release of RaceDay CheckIn adds two things race directors have asked for. You can now design more than one label per configuration and print them together, and you can control which configuration your volunteers land in and whether they can change it.
Print more than one label
Until now, each configuration held a single label layout. Some races need two: a bib label and a second label with different information, such as emergency contact details.
Open Print Settings and you will see a new Label Templates section. If you have not set up a label printer yet, start with RaceDay CheckIn: Label Printer Setup.
Design several labels. Use Add New Label to create another label, and the selector to switch between the labels you are editing. Rename Current Label gives each one a name you will recognize. Delete Current Label removes one, and at least one label always remains.
Choose which labels print. When a configuration holds more than one label, a Labels to Print section appears. Select the labels that should print during check-in. When you select more than one, they print back to back in the order shown next to each label.
Each label is fully customizable. A second label is not limited to a fixed set of information. You design it with the same elements, sizes, and layout options as your first label.
Your existing print settings carry over. A configuration that already has a label keeps it as its first label, and nothing changes about how it prints.
One label size per print
A printer holds one roll of labels at a time, so every label in a print sequence needs to be the same size. If you try to save with mixed sizes, the app shows Label Sizes Do Not Match, lists each label set to print along with its size, and waits for you to correct it before saving.
The app supports three label sizes: 1.1″ x 3.5″, 1.4″ x 3.5″, and a 2.4″ continuous roll. The label printer setup article covers which Brother media matches each one. Control how volunteers use configurations
Reported cases include volunteers changing settings mid event, including one case where all events were hidden from the participant list. The new Configuration Access section lets you decide up front which configuration a volunteer gets and what they can change.
Open a configuration and tap Configuration Access. These settings are available on configurations you create. Protect This Configuration With A PIN. Set a 4-digit PIN on the configuration. Once a PIN is set, the button reads Edit Configuration PIN.
Require PIN For… Choose whether the PIN gates Editing This Configuration or Choosing And Editing This Configuration. Use the second option when you want volunteers kept out of a configuration entirely.
Set as Default Configuration. Pick the configuration that applies automatically when someone opens the race. Volunteers go straight into it, and the Select Configuration prompt does not appear at all. Only one configuration can be the Race Default, and the app tells you which one holds it if you try to set a second.
Hide from Initial Configuration Selection. Keep a configuration out of the Select Configuration prompt, which is useful for an admin configuration that volunteers should not pick. At least one configuration must remain visible, so the app stops you from hiding the last one. This setting does not apply when a Race Default is set, because that prompt never appears.
Lock Race When Configuration Is Loaded. Lock the race automatically using that configuration’s PIN. Set a PIN first, and the app reminds you if you have not. The lock applies any time the race is loaded with that configuration selected, so it still works when you set it up after your volunteers already have the race open, and you can test it yourself without rebuilding your setup. Hide Checkin Stats When Race Is Locked. While the race is locked from that configuration, hide the Check In Stats screen.
Putting it together
Set one configuration as the Race Default, give it a PIN, and turn on Lock Race When Configuration Is Loaded. Your volunteers open the race, land in the configuration you chose, and cannot switch to another one or change settings without the PIN. You keep a separate configuration for yourself and set it to Hide from Initial Configuration Selection with the PIN required for choosing and editing.

Keep a record of the PIN you set. There is no way to recover it from within the app.
Smaller improvements
Entering a PIN now takes a single tap. Previously the keyboard covered the buttons and swallowed the first tap. When you enter a correct PIN to open a protected configuration, the app takes you straight in without a second confirmation.
What has not changed
- The built-in configurations still appear in the picker. Default Configuration, Result Kiosk, and Medical Kiosk are always offered when the Select Configuration prompt appears. Setting a Race Default is the way to skip that prompt entirely.
- Labels in one print sequence must share a size. Printing a bib label and a different sized label together is not supported, because a printer holds one roll at a time.
- Configuration Access applies to configurations you create. The built-in configurations do not have these settings.
