RunSignUp Product Updates — Week of September 14–20, 2026

This week we shipped 61 releases, adding 26,193 lines of code and removing 4,137 lines as we continue to improve and simplify the platform.

This was a full week for the RunSignUp platform, with fresh options for building race websites, real progress on our Volunteer V2 beta, and smarter tools built into our chat experience. Whether you’re setting up your next event’s website, coordinating volunteers, or keeping registrants informed on race day, there’s something in this update designed to make your job a little easier.

AI Chat V2 for Customer Service

This week we upgraded all 1,900 AI Chatbot customers over to Chatbot V2, our newer and more capable chat experience.  V2 added a dedicated Race Results specialist so registrants and spectators can get faster, more accurate answers about results right from the chat window.

V2 moves onto RunSignup’s own AI infrastructure, built on Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore. The foundation was designed around four things:

  • Event Data Access – not just content, but data like results, pricing, location, etc. directly from the RunSignup database
  • Scalability, so the chatbot holds up across every event website running it
  • Safety and Security, with a separate knowledge base for each event
  • Human in the loop, so a person approves anything the AI would change

Everything else in V2 follows from that foundation. Read more about RunSignup’s AI infrastructure.

RaceDay CheckIn Updates V66

Camera Bib Number Scan

Dynamic bib assignment has always depended on a QR code printed on the bib. Not every race prints one, and a code that is creased, wet, or covered will not read. You can now read the printed number itself instead.

Open the camera during bib assignment and you will see two modes at the top, QR Code and Number. Tap Number, line the printed number up inside the box, and tap Scan Number. The app shows you what it read before it uses it: Confirm Bib Number when it finds one number, Select Bib Number when more than one number is in the picture, and Retake when the shot was not clean. If there is nothing readable in the box, the app says so and lets you try again.

Print a QR code on your labels

It is common to want a label a participant can scan later, either to look up their results or to hand off to a second station. Labels can now carry a QR code.

In the label designer, QR Code is available in the dropdown for any spot on the label. Under Preview & Layout, QR Code Data decides what the code holds:

Results Link encodes a link to that participant’s results, so a phone camera opens them in a browser. This is the default. Registration ID encodes the value the app itself scans to look a participant up. Bib Number encodes the bib, which is what a bib assignment scan reads.

Volunteer check in and check out

Volunteer coordinators asked to know when a volunteer arrived and when they left. Volunteer check-in now records both, with times.

A Refreshed Website Builder

New Homepage Layout Options

TicketSignup website’s homepage just got more flexible. We added three brand-new homepage layout options to the website builder, giving you more ways to welcome visitors and highlight what matters most about your event. We also moved the donation thermometer option earlier in the setup process and simplified the very first step, so building your site takes even less time.  This will be coming to Race Websites in the coming months.

Faster, More Reliable Website Saves

Saving changes to your race website is now quicker, since we only send the pages you actually changed instead of your entire site every time. We also added a friendly reminder to save your work before navigating away, so last-minute edits never get lost.

Automatic Groups Page for Team Races

If your race includes team or group registration, we now automatically add a dedicated Groups page to your website navigation as soon as you set it up, so you no longer need to add it yourself.

Simpler Ticket Tile Settings

Editing how your ticket options are displayed on your website is now more straightforward. The settings link now takes simple ticket events directly to the right screen to make changes, instead of a more advanced page that wasn’t built for them.

Clearer Messages When a Page Needs a Refresh

If you’re editing your website in more than one browser tab and a page falls out of sync, you’ll now see a clear message asking you to refresh instead of a confusing technical error.

Fixed a Publish Date Error

We fixed an issue where entering certain unusual publish dates in the website builder could cause an error. You’ll now see a clear, helpful message if a date needs to be corrected instead.

Growing Our Volunteer V2 Beta

Time Tracking

As part of our big Volunteer V2 roll out, we have added the ability to track Volunteer Time. We have also added this capability to the current Volunteer system as well.

Smoother Volunteer Sign-Up Flow

As part of our Volunteer V2 beta, we fixed several small but frustrating hiccups in the volunteer sign-up flow: task ordering now stays put after a refresh, your email and password no longer get cleared if you navigate back a step, in-progress entries won’t quietly disappear, and lists of needed resources now display cleanly on one line.

Control Over Priority Task Visibility

Race directors can now choose whether volunteers see priority-task indicators during sign-up, with the option turned on by default. It’s a small setting that gives you more control over how your volunteer opportunities are presented.

More Reliable Volunteer Task Management

We fixed a bug that could occasionally cause a volunteer task’s details to display under the wrong event on the dashboard, making task management more dependable.

More Reliable Race Results & Timing

Refreshed Weather Info on Results Pages

We redesigned how weather information appears on race results pages, giving it its own clean section instead of crowding it in with the results data. It’s a small visual change that makes results pages easier to scan, whether you’re looking at a single-day race or a multi-day event.

Result Notifications Arrive When They Should

We fixed an issue that could cause result notifications to go out too early for upcoming events, and then fail to send again once results were actually posted. Notifications now arrive in the right window around race day, every time.

Group Bib Assignments Reset on Race Renewal

When you renew or copy a race, group bib number assignments will no longer carry over automatically, matching how individual bib assignments already work. This gives you a clean, intentional setup for group numbering on each new race rather than settings quietly carrying over from a previous year.

Advanced Texting Gets More Powerful

Our SMS Marketing capability is currently in Alpha, and about to get released to select Beta customers.

Message Everyone Who’s Opted In

Advanced SMS now includes a built-in “opted-in” contact list, so you can text everyone who’s currently opted in to receive messages without maintaining a manual list yourself.

Text Message Sending History

A new Sent Messages dashboard report lets you review the history of your text campaigns at a glance, including how many messages went out successfully.

More Flexible Contact List Uploads

When uploading a list of contacts by CSV for texting, you can now choose the date format for consent dates instead of being limited to a single format, which is handy if your data comes from a different system.

Better Marketing & Registration Insights

Track Registrations Week by Week

Race Insights now includes a Registrations per Week chart and downloadable report, so you can see exactly how your registration pace is trending over any date range you choose.

More Accurate Facebook Ad Tracking

If you run Facebook or Instagram ads for your event, your ad performance reporting should now be more accurate. We improved how we share visitor and click information with Meta, so registrations driven by your ads are tracked more reliably.

Smoother Registration, Waivers & Fundraising

Catching Mistyped Birth Years

We added a safeguard that flags clearly mistyped birth years, like typing 1092 instead of 1992, on registration, profile, volunteer, and import forms, so bad data gets caught before it causes problems down the line.

Optional Email Collection on Waivers

Ticket event directors can now optionally collect a signer’s email address on online attendee waivers, matching a feature that was already available for races. Collected emails show up right in your Waiver Agreements report.

A Cleaner Donation Confirmation Page

We gave the donation confirmation page a visual refresh: a simpler thank-you message, cleaner styling, real campaign and fundraiser logos, and modernized buttons. We also fixed a bug where sharing your donation could unexpectedly jump the page back to the top.

Correct Locations on Registration Confirmations

Registration confirmation emails and PDFs now correctly show your race’s custom location description when you’ve set one, instead of always falling back to a generic city and state, which is especially helpful for virtual races or unique venues.

Behind-the-Scenes Reliability & Protection

Sponsor Renewals Work As Expected

We fixed a couple of bugs affecting race sponsor renewals that could leave renewals stuck or cause sponsor logos to display incorrectly on your website. Renewing your sponsors should now work smoothly and display correctly.

Fixed a Membership Registration Error

We fixed an error that could interrupt registration for certain membership organizations, so members can sign up without running into an unexpected error message.

Added Protection for Digital Wallet Passes

We strengthened a security check on Apple Wallet passes to make sure registrants can only download the wallet pass for their own registration.

More Predictable Payout Timing for New Accounts

For newly created payment accounts, we adjusted how the standard payout hold period is calculated so it starts counting from your first actual transaction rather than from when the account was set up. This prevents the hold from expiring before any money has actually come in.

Cleaner Contact Lists in Email Marketing

We improved how Email Marketing’s Super List feature combines different types of contacts, preventing duplicate entries from showing up when building a combined list.

As always, if you have ideas for what we should build next, let us know.
