We have introduced a new layout for User Profiles that is easier to navigate, and modernized. This is important given the number of people using RunSignup, and the fact that there are over a million people per year who are signing up for multiple events.
This will be a phased roll out, like many things we do. The first step is the left navigation. This is Bob’s Profile Menu – it is long since he tests so many different scenarios. The profile menu items show up when that user has used that feature – like having results displayed in a race, or being a race director, or joining a membership organization.
This is actually a left navigation menu cut up to display in this blog. Most users will have a MUCH shorter list, but this is a nice complete list of all the features that users can navigate to (we have a lot of features!). As usual, we have a simple search at the top of the menu.
There is some enhanced layout of the pages, for example this results page with quick links to the Finisher Certificate, Results and Photos:
Multiple Signups on Multiple Accounts?
A common thing we see is people having multiple accounts across multiple events. This is often from having multiple email addresses. We have advanced contact matching software that presents this to users on their Profile page (Consolidate Accounts). The Claiming includes a two step validation via email.
What’s Next
Many of the individual pages will be redesigned over the coming months. The focus is on a cleaner mobile experience. Here is a mockup of what it will look like:
We will also become even smarter on the Profile menu to eliminate unnecessary links like Vouchers when not applicable.
We will also be including a quick photo capture capability to improve the ease of creating a profile picture. Ryan Sullivan (this year’s stellar coop student!) shows off what he has in the code review process…
This will give participants even more reason to love signing up for events on RunSignup and TicketSignup!
