Debugging Customer AI Code

AI is great at writing code. The RunSignup API gives our customers and partners a lot of power to access their data and build custom applications, dashboards and agents. Lot of people are doing very creative things with this combination, which we applaud.

We are seeing two problems increasing:

  • AI Applications generating excessive traffic to our site, often using the API in ways that are not intended.
  • AI applications breaking.

We have written about how we are beginning to make changes to our API to limit excessive or bad requests. Major changes will happen in January, but we need to protect all of our customers. That will require all applications to be updated.

This might be an obvious statement, but we can not be in the business of debugging the increasing number of applications being written against our API with various AI tools. We are beginning to get requests from very valued customers or partners asking for help in debugging their AI applications, or asking us to diagnose why they hit certain limits we have put in our API. Unfortunately, that is simply not possible given our focus on building out our own product portfolio for events.

We do have a research project going this semester with Rowan University to document two example applications, and preferred setup, configuration and other suggestions. We will publish this in December.

Yes, this is Bob writing this. And yes, I am writing it so our Account Managers have something to send to customers when they ask for help…
