I renewed my race on RunSignup — and now my dashboard looks empty. Where did all my data go? Don’t panic. Nothing has been deleted. All of your historical race data — past participant registrations, results, financials, reports, and more — is still right there in your RunSignup dashboard. It just takes one quick step to get to it.
This blog will walk you through what actually happens when you renew your race, what data carries over, what resets, and exactly how to access your previous race data. If you haven’t renewed yet and need a step-by-step guide, check out this blog on how to renew your race first.
What Actually Happens When You Renew Your Race?
Renewing your race rolls your existing event forward to a new year. It’s not starting from scratch — think of it as turning the page. Here’s what stays the same and what gets a fresh start:
What stays the same:
- Race URL and race page
- Website design, custom content, and branding
- Race settings, event structure, and custom registration questions
- Race store products
- All historical data: past participants, results, financials, and reports
What updates/resets:
- Race date(s)
- Registration pricing and time sensitive settings
- Participant registrations (your new year starts fresh — previous registrations are in the prior years’ data)
- Donation period (if applicable — more on this below)
So when you log in and see an empty dashboard after renewing, that’s actually a good thing — it means you’re looking at a clean slate for the new race year. Your past data hasn’t gone anywhere.
How to Access Your Previous Race Data on RunSignup
All of your previous race data — past participant registrations, financial reports, and more — is accessible right from your race dashboard using the Search/Change Event dropdown. You can switch back and forth between years at any time. Everything is store in the same race dashboard, just organized by year.
What Past Race Data Can You Access?
Participant Data and Reports
- Full participant registration lists, including contact info and custom question responses
- Registrant reports, filterable by event, and more
Financial Reports
- Registration revenue and payout history
- Refund and transfer records
- Donation and fundraising totals (if applicable)
Results and Race Day Data
- CheckIn stats, race results, and finish times
- Year-over-year participant and performance reports
- Timer and results data uploaded for that race year
Fundraising Data
- Individual fundraiser pages and totals
- Team fundraising results and donor lists
- Donation reports and offline donation records
A Note on Donations: Your Donation Period Resets When You Renew
If your race collects donations, there’s one important thing to know about renewing: your donation period resets when you renew your race. This is actually intentional — it keeps your new fundraising campaign separate from your previous year’s totals and gives you a clean starting point.
When you go through the renewal process, you’ll see a checkbox option to create a new donation period. It’s recommended that you check this box. Once renewed, be sure to review your donation settings to make sure your donation dates align with your fundraising timeline for the new race year.
Your previous year’s donation data — donor lists, totals, individual fundraiser pages, and team fundraising results — is still fully accessible in your reports by using the Search/Change Event dropdown button to choose which year’s data you want to view.
Year-Over-Year Reporting
One of the biggest benefits of renewing your race (rather than creating a new one from scratch) is that all your historical data lives in one place. That means you can run year-over-year reports directly from your RunSignup dashboard — comparing registration trends, revenue, and participation numbers across multiple years without needing to export and manually combine spreadsheets.

This kind of multi-year visibility is incredibly useful for planning. Want to know if your registration pace is ahead of or behind last year? Curious how your early bird pricing affected signups? Need to show a sponsor how participation has grown over time? It’s all there.
Common Questions After Renewing Your Race
Can participants still see their past results?
Yes! Past race results remain publicly visible on your race results page, even after you renew. Participants can look up their finish times and results from previous years at any time.
Can I still download reports from previous years?
Yes. Once you locate what you’d like to view from a previous year all reports — participant, financial, results, fundraising — are fully downloadable just like the current year.
Will my race website URL change after renewing?
No. Your race URL stays the same after renewing. This is one of the key advantages of renewing vs. creating a new race — you don’t lose your SEO history or have to update links everywhere.
What if I accidentally created a new race instead of renewing?
If you created a new race by mistake instead of renewing your existing one, reach out to RunSignup support. The team can help you get things sorted out.
