We have had a setting in RunSignup that enables any race director to turn off the requirement to create an account and enter a password. We are no making this only available to Partners. Races will need to contact RunSignup and get approval to make this change.
The reason for this change is that in almost all cases it makes a lot of sense for a race to have runners set up accounts. This saves a lot of time in the long run for the runner as they do not have to enter in their information twice. More importantly, it allows the runner to go in and make changes to their profile as well as race information that the race director allows (like changing the size of a T-Shirt).
