Founder’s Corner – 2026 Company Meeting and RunSignup University

We have just finished up a very fun (and exhausting) week in the beautiful, peaceful city of St. Paul, Minnesota at the friendly and diverse Saint Paul College.

2026 Company Meeting

This was the first time we had brought all 81 of us together since the Pandemic (when we were 42 people). We bring individual teams together at least twice a year. Our team is spread across 16 states, it took us a while to fully recover from the pandemic, and we are frugal by nature. Hopefully we continue to do well, and we are able to do this every year or two as it was very nice to see everyone interacting and getting to know each other face to face.

Company History

I kicked things off with a history of the company. I told origin stories of the early years and the people who joined early like Stephen, Jordan, Andrew, Ryan, Johanna and Bryan. I talked about when we really started gaining major traction in 2015 when Roger, James and Avery joined us to kick off our Race Day efforts. That was also the year that Kevin started to make sure we had rock solid financial and operational foundations. Then some of the major milestones along the way as we grew from 10,000 registrations in 2010 to over 12 Million signups in 2025, having helped our customers process over $3.8 Billion for so many good causes.

Andrew Sigwart joined us in 2012 to do customer support. He initiated his efforts to make our support multi-media with video help and tutorials. We now have a huge YouTube library with thousands upon thousands of views. He is also a bit of historian and put this video together:

Guiding Principles

Of course I had to cover our Guiding Principles, the foundation of what guides our company. I have given the presentation probably 100+ times in company meetings and team get togethers. Andrew also put together this disappointing video showing that no one really listens to me…

Developer Demos

The highlight of the Company Meeting were three demos of projects that are currently underway and nearing completion:

SMS Marketing – We are getting close to releasing the capability for each event to get their own toll free number with the ability to send txt messages for 1¢ a piece. Joel Peterson did a full round trip demo of applying for a toll free number (which will be a 1-2 week process for customers since this is a highly regulated service), adding contacts and sending messages.

Super Lists – Rich Sbarro showed off the work he and the team have been doing on Super Lists. This is a very powerful feature that will give event directors the ability to create custom lists with filters for nearly everything – participants who have participated over 3 times and are between the ages of 20 and 30 as an example. Over time it will provide about 150 different parameters covering donors, fundraisers, members, and most things our platform provides.

New AI Infrastructure and Initial Applications

Ryan Snell showed off the work he and his team will be releasing over the next month or so with our next gen AI infrastructure. The applications were impressive – Results, Contact Us AI Answer, Customer Service AI Chatbot V2 and Data Query. Here are some screenshots…

RunSignup University

We held our RunSignup University on Wednesday and Thursday. It was jam packed with hands on learning sessions, demos and personal help sessions in Study Hall. We learn as much from our customers during this event and they learn from us.

My favorite quote was: “We learned we were driving a Ferrari like a Honda”.
