We recently held our inaugural RunSignup University. The two day event gave attendees an opportunity to deepen their product knowledge and get the most out of RunSignup. Being there in person was certainly the best way to learn the most, but seats were limited and not everyone who wanted to attend was able to.
With that in mind, we’re sharing some of the best bits from RunSignup University in weekly installments and giving access to full presentations for those interested in doing a little self-guided learning.
Think of it like an independent study course, minus the quizzes and mandatory advisor meetings.
Websites V2
Websites have long been a strong point of our platform. But we’re not the type to rest on our laurels and recently released Websites V2 for RunSignup. It has all the great features you know, plus a brand new builder that makes creating pixel perfect websites easier than ever.
One of our Account Managers James Armington and Head of Marketing Johanna Goode, put together a presentation covering all things Websites V2. The presentation covers why you might want to make the switch, how the builder works, the different website components, and more.
You can access the whole presentation through the button below.
They also created an incredibly helpful Websites V2 worksheet.
If you’re just looking for the highlights, keep scrolling for the presentation overview.
When should I turn on Websites V2?
Anytime (sort of). You can always toggle between your legacy website and Websites V2, so there’s no danger in starting on V2. If you have lots of races, we recommend working on them on a rolling basis.
Reasons not to turn on V2 yet:
- If there are a few missing features you want to wait for.
- To avoid toggling back and forth during periods of high traffic (I.E., registration opening, price increase, race weekend).
Current Website Builder Components
Websites built with Websites V2 are composed of content blocks we call components. Components are the content blocks that fill up sections. Components can be static (like text or images) or dynamic (like countdown clocks or donation thermometers).
The current components are:
- Contact Form
- Text
- Buttons
- Images
- Image, Text, Button
- YouTube Video
- YouTube Playlist
- Apple Music Playlist
- Spotify Playlist
- Countdown Clock
- Donation Thermometer
- Sponsors List
- Cards
- Event list
- Strava map
How Websites V2 Are Better for YOU
Though our original website builder was certainly more than capable, there are a few key ways that the new iteration makes life even easier. First, there are shared components. What we mean by that is RunSignup sites, TicketSignup sites, and Membership sites all use the same components, so updates and upgrades are easier to do across the board.
Along with being shared, components are also dynamic. You can use them on all the different pages, and aren’t limited to using them simply on cover pages, which was true in the previous builder. You also have more automation options than before, reducing manual work and overall website build times.
Following a similar thread, the builder is more intuitive than before. Page and menu management are much easier, and the overall point-and-click building is generally more intuitive and has less of a learning curve.
Last, there are more design options than ever with the newer builder. With them you’re able to make more impressive websites that perfectly match your brand. Whether it’s changing the layout, or updating the color scheme, you’re able to make professional-looking websites that inspire confidence for anyone looking to register for your event.
