Badges for Milestones

Last week we released Milestones, intermediate Goals along your Challenge journey, and their accompanying badges. There are a few default badges built into the system, but you can also upload custom badges to match your event. Two tools we recommend for badges:

Open Badge Designer: This tool has built in backgrounds that look like badges, a handful of icons, and the ability to upload additional images, add text, and adjust the colors. It requires an email, but is free to use.

CanvaOur perennially-recommended tool for low-cost graphics without a designer can also make badges. You can find some badge-shapped elements, but we really like this for the ability to make animate GIFs for badges. You can use it for free, but most of the premium images and gifs require a Pro membership ($9.95-$12.95/month).

Ideal size for a badge is 300×300 pixels, but the 400×400 ones from Badge Designer will work as well.

As a starting point, we’ve started collecting a few badges we’ve seen, and played around with making a few more. Feel free to steal any that meet your fancy! Just right click and save-as to grab the image. To add the badge, go to the Goals section of the Virtual Results Dashboard, setup a milestone and choose a “Custom Badge”, then upload the one you want.
