We were recently asked if we could handle 1,000 registration in 10 minutes. Of course we can! That is why we spent so much time proving 50,000 registrations in 7 minutes. If you are a geek, read the technical white paper on scaling.
We also had a real life race a few weeks back that actually registered 1,020 people in the first 10 minutes of registration. We had scaled up a bit to handle the load with 10 web servers – but we didn’t need to since the load maxed out around 15% and server response time was 158 milliseconds (0.158 seconds). Users with fast Internet connections saw sub-second performance between pages.
Here is the number of registrations per minute:
9:01 – 6 registrations
9:02 – 97 registrations
9:03 – 138 registrations
9:04 – 167 registrations
9:05 – 152 registrations
9:06 – 118 registrations
9:07 – 123 registrations
9:08 – 77 registrations
9:09 – 66 registrations
9:10 – 74 registrations
