Even the Maine Lobsters Love Some RaceJoy!

It was a fun weekend for RaceJoy at the Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon & 5K. Not only were we onsite for this event, but we also got to eat some delicious lobster during the Lobster Bake and the chance to meet great people over the course of the weekend.

The Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon & 5K is an ideal summer destination race with cooler temperatures and the opportunity to add on a vacation. When trying to beat the heat during a summer half marathon, Maine is the perfect destination; we’re sure the 3,900+ participants who finished the race would agree.

While RaceJoy was at the race site, we were able to see firsthand the effort the race organizers have put toward this event, and the continuing growth of the race.

With record high attendance, the 2015 Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon & 5K, helped raise $400,000 for race beneficiaries including Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland, the Cancer Community Center, Portland Trails, and Team Challenge – Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.

The Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon & 5K is a great race to try out. Many participants at this year’s event were working toward completing 50 half marathons in 50 states. What better setting than Portland, Maine with beer and lobsters is there to be one of the 50 states for this challenge?

With RaceJoy’s interactive features, participants were able to add to their race experience through live tracking, timing system progress alerts, instant results moments upon crossing the finish line, and fun audio cheers.

With about 70% usage, RaceJoy was able to send out more than 11,600 progress alerts on race day. Typically for half marathons, we see usage rates between 40 and 80%, so we had a really strong turnout in Portland.

A special thank you to GiddyUp Productions for sponsoring RaceJoy during the Shipyard Old Port Half Marathon & 5K.
