Coronavirus Impact on Races Week 18

Please see RunSignup.com/ChallengePlatformRunSignup.com/GoVirtualLooking Forward: Guidelines for Races, and RunSignup.com/Coronavirus for recommendations and tools.

Things continue to evolve as of May 17, 2020 from Week 161514131211109876543 and 2 of the Coronavirus.

The transaction volume we saw the past week is 8% lower than the same week last year vs. last week down 10%. Notice that the transaction volume of June is normally very low in comparison with other months. This makes for an easier comparison – for example we expect our transaction volume in September to be down more than 10%.

We’ve included two charts showing the total $ amount of transactions flowing thru our system on a weekly basis both pre and post Coronavirus. The first is a simple %, and the second is the actual transactions per week on our platform. For example, this past week was $3,445,582 vs. $3,734,103 last year. Also, you can see we were having a great year (up 29%) before the virus, so this does not represent the community as a whole…

Of the 20 top races over the past week:

  • 9 are virtual races
  • 7 are challenges
  • 4 are real races scheduled for the fall

We have a new set of stats this week, showing the % of all registrations for the week that are in each category:

Virtual Symposium

We held our Virtual Symposium this past week. You can find all the slides and video recordings here. It was a great success from the perspective that we provided a lot of education and a number of organizations walked away with ideas on how they could make money and save money now.

We had 480 people sign up and participate. While we missed the personal interactions, we did get a ton of questions during the various sessions. When we return to have in person symposiums, we will have ways to ask questions by typing during the session and we will have moderators like we did to answer the questions in real time.

Here are links to a few of the highlights:

  • Opening Presentation with Bob and Allison. Also joined by Kendra Sinclair, Product Manager of Facebook Fundraising, as well as Alan Jones and the winner of this year’s Alan Jones Timer of the Year Award – Todd Henderlong.
  • Quick Hits with Bryan Jenkins. A whirlwind review of cool RunSignup and GiveSignup features (always the favorite presentation).
  • Virtual and Challenge Case Studies with Allison, Bryan and Bob. We cover many examples, successful marketing strategies and how the user experience is optimized for engagement.
