RunSignup Welcomes Matt Downin as New VP Business Development

We are excited to announce that Matt Downin is joining the RunSignup team as a VP of Business Development. Matt brings more than 2 decades of endurance industry experience to the RunSignup Sales Team. At RunSignup, he will work with large timing and event management companies.

Running Career

Matt first entered the endurance industry as a runner, beginning with a high school state championship and a collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin. Following his collegiate career, Matt ran professionally until 2010. As a professional, Matt holds a 2:14:28 marathon PR, was the first American at the New York City Marathon, and qualified for two World Cross Country Championships.

Endurance Industry Experience

Matt was introduced to the business side of running as a Race Director in 1999. On the software side, Matt first worked as the Director of Marketing for Strands.com software platform for 2 years. Later, he joined BazuSports and helped guide them through an acquisition and merger with Life Time Fitness and ChronoTrack. In the last decade, Matt has provided sales and marketing leadership for well-known endurance organizations, including ChronoTrack, Life Time Media and EnMotive.

Focus at RunSignup

At RunSignup, Matt will play a pivotal role with both existing and new customers. He will work with key timing and event management companies to optimize their use of the RunSignup Technology. Additionally, Matt will identify and convert new customers in the registration, ticket, and peer-to-peer fundraising markets. We are excited to see him put his years of experience into action, and know that our customers will benefit from his extensive expertise.

Outside RunSignup

Outside of work, Matt is originally from Boston and recently moved to Wilmington, Delaware. He spends his free time with his three school-aged kids (and their sports commitments). While no longer professional, Matt still runs/walks as much as possible, occasionally with his two rescue dogs.
