RunSignup Welcomes Soren Larson as Senior Technical Account Manager for RaceDay Technology

We are excited to announce that Soren Larson is joining the RunSignup team as a Senior Technical Account Manager focused on RaceDay technology.  At RunSignup he will work with customers of our RaceDay technology and help onboard new users to our products like RaceDay Scoring, RaceDay Checkin, RaceJoy, RaceDay Mobile Timing App, RaceDay Photos and more.  He will also collaborate with other technology partners who integrate with the RunSignup platform.

Endurance Industry Expertise

Soren has been at one of the most prestigious timing companies in the country, Mtec, for the past decade.  He became involved in helping with high school track and cross country as a coach and race official while he was at University of Minnesota.  John Magnuson, the founder of Mtec, asked him at a cross country meet one day if he wanted to help time a race and the rest, as they say, is history.

Soren has had a hand in timing major events like the Twin Cities Marathon, Grandma’s Marathon, and the Columbus Marathon.  He has also helped as part of the timing teams at Boston, Chicago and Houston.

On the technology side, he is an expert RunScore user and helped rewrite all of the old listing files that Mtec had on many of their races in his early years at the company.  He also helped the Mtec team deploy their own cloud based scoring and results system that contains over a million results from all of the Mtec races since 2010.  He has helped train and onboard many people on the Mtec team in RunScore, the Mtec system as well as other systems like Race Roster, RunSignup and other tools like RunSignup’s RaceDay Checkin App.

Soren is well regarded in the timing community.  He was asked to speak at the MyLaps conference earlier this year, and is part of the MyLaps Cloud beta program at Mtec.

Soren’s Role at RunSignup

Soren will be part of the Account Management team that helps RunSignup customers as well as assists in training and onboarding new customers.  His focus will be on timers and helping them use our technology.  While his focus will be on RunSignup RaceDay products, he will also collaborate with a variety of technology partners that integrate with the RunSignup registration platform like RunScore, Agee Timing, RM Timing, Race Result and more.

Soren will help develop and deliver training material for our RaceDay products.  He will also be a user of our RaceDay products by going out to help time about 10 races a year.  This year he will continue to work with Boston but as a volunteer.  He will also help with a transition plan with Mtec.  Soren will travel to help various timers come up to speed on our RaceDay products – although an average only once a month vs his current busy schedule.  This will provide him with the important real world knowledge that can be used to work with our RaceDay development team as we continue to improve our products.

RunSignup was fortunate to receive so many great candidates for this position over the past couple of weeks.  Soren is a perfect fit due to his broad knowledge of timing technology, his ability to help educate others and the fact that he has worked as a partner of RunSignup for a number of years – he was a well known person to us.

With the addition of Matt Downin several months ago, RunSignup is prepared to support our growing customer base as our RaceDay products continue to gain momentum with more and more timers.  They join our amazing RaceDay development and support team already in place that continuously improves our products.  As you can see from our 2023 Product Recap and our 2024 Product Roadmap, we have a huge investment in timers, and Soren will enable us to deliver that technology to timers.
