So the latest approach of Race Roster to RunSignup customers is to tell them that they will give them 2% back. The latest example was a race that does about $65K in transaction volume – so the race would get $1,300. What they forget to say is that the processing fees will go up – in this case by about $3,300.
So charge the participants an extra $3,300 over RunSignup, but pocket $1,300 of that.
There are three approaches to staying on RunSignup:
- First would be to hike the registration fee to Race Roster levels ($1.99 per participant plus 6.99%), and pocket the $3,300 rather than the $1,300.
- The second way would be to raise processing fee prices so that the participants only pay $1,300 extra and you still keep the $1,300.
- The third way is to just let the participants keep their money and keep the standard RunSignup processing fees.
Race Roster | RunSignup | RunSignup > 5,000 Participants
per Participant | $1.99 | ||
per Transaction | $1.00 | $0.80
per Transaction | 6.99% | 6% 4% Donations | 4.8% 4% Donations |
Summary
So the good news is that you do not need to switch away from RunSignup! And the lesson is, remember to do the math…
