Now Hiring: Timer Success Position

We have a Timer Success Position open and are seeking a Timer who wants to transition from timing to a full-time position at RunSignup. This role will provide a meaningful impact in helping to modernize the timing community with our RaceDay tools via education, guidance, and optimizing the feedback loop to development.

This position replaces Crisp McDonald who has for several years served in this role as well as operated a timing company on the side. We are happy for Crisp that his timing business has grown to the point that he no longer has time for a full-time position with us. Crisp is a valuable resource to RunSignup and to the timing and race community. He has provided training and support for hundreds of timers and led our education series Timer Tip Tuesdays (the YouTube Channel has 92 of them!).  Crisp has also been a speaker at many of our Symposiums, Roadshows and has helped certify many timers on RaceDay Scoring, RaceDay CheckIn, RaceJoy and RunSignup Registration for Timers.

Crisp has also personally helped countless timers prep for their weekends and provided support, alongside the rest of our support team, to help customers in their time of need on early weekend mornings and late nights. We thank Crisp for all of his efforts and contributions to the success of our customers and our company. He will transition out of the company in March, 2024, and we wish him every success in his Go Race Productions timing business. Crisp is very much a quality timing partner for our customers and one we can wholeheartedly endorse.

Areas of Responsibility

For the newly opened position, these are the areas of responsibility the Timer Success position will perform:

  • Serve as the central training resource for our RaceDay Suite of products with new and established timers through product demonstrations and personalized one-on-one training.
  • Develop materials to help timers understand how they can modernize their operations and offerings with our RaceDay products
  • Develop training and certification materials for new customers
  • Develop training and certification materials for timers to use when onboarding new employees
  • Provide escalated support and guidance as needed during the weekend and days leading up to race events.
  • Timer Tip Tuesday webinars (both create but also help other timers leading these training webinars).
  • Present our RaceDay and RunSignup offerings in various company and industry events
  • Attend 10 events per year to help new customers use our RaceDay products. Use this as an opportunity to gain practical application knowledge and provide product feedback directly from customer experiences.
  • Participate in the weekly Monday debrief on all timer issues over the weekend with our support team to see if there are ways to improve our products or documentation or education.
  • Be among the first people testing and introducing new features
  • Help educate and train our own staff and our customers on all new product features
  • Participate in development planning and prioritization meetings to provide real time and knowledgeable guidance
  • Help backup the rest of the support and RayDay team when they need help
  • While focused on promoting our RaceDay products, be available to help customers who may use other products or scoring software and want to integrate with our registration and/or results platform as that is our key focus and is how we generate revenue.

Position Requirements

It is a requirement that the selected candidate work full-time at RunSignup and not have a side timing business. It is essential our timing partners have trust and confidence that no conflict of interest exists with this role and their timing business. In addition, there will be times this role is needed to provide escalated weekend support and personalized guidance for timers, and an active timing business will conflict with the ability to perform this responsibility.

We have a large team focused on our RaceDay products, and you will need to work with all of them. This includes:

  • James Harris, RaceDay creator and his team of 6 talented developers
  • Matt Avery, our skilled and experienced RaceDay Product Manager
  • Roger Bradshaw, creator of The Race Director who also helps with testing, onboarding customers and support, except the one week he goes fishing in Canada in the summer
  • Matt Downin, our new, but deeply experienced, VP Business Development focused on Timers
  • Kevin Lai, Dave Hunt and David Drew in our fantastic support team
  • Shelly Harris, long time endurance industry veteran focused on Education and Marketing for Timers
  • Bob Bickel, Founder, but also focused on our Endurance business overall, where timers are critical partners and a key part of our overall strategy

Qualifications

The following are required:

  • Love of timing and endurance
  • Love of and acumen for technology
  • The ability to complete tasks efficiently and in a high-volume environment
  • The ability to quickly learn and understand new technology
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A high energy, hands-on, team player with positive approach
  • Willing and able to travel to about 10 customer races per year, industry conferences as needed, and company/team meetings
  • Availability during weekends and evenings to provide support and guidance as needed
  • Experience as a timer, preferably as an owner of a timing business

Will consider candidates with varying levels of experience. Compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate’s background and experience.
