Many timers and race organizers told us they needed the ability to zoom when capturing photos to improve image quality and make bib capture easier without being extremely close to participants. V5 Part 2 delivers in-app camera pinch-to-zoom controls, allowing your team to:

• Improve Bib Visibility: Zoom in to get crisp, legible shots of bib numbers from a more comfortable and practical distance. This helps reduce blurry images and ensures clearer photos for manual review or AI processing.
• Flexible Framing for Better Shots: Easily adjust your view to capture broader scenes or focus on individual finishers, all without needing to constantly change your physical position. This is perfect for varying finish line setups and ensuring you get the shots you need.

This new level of control directly addresses common challenges, helping your on-site team capture higher-quality, more useful photos for timing verification and participant galleries.

Photo Upload Progress Indicator: In-App Clarity for Your Photo Sync

We heard your requests for more visibility into the photo upload process directly within the app. with two major enhancements: highly requested in-app camera zoom controls and a comprehensive photo upload progress indicator.The new photo upload progress indicator provides this crucial transparency:

• At-a-Glance Totals: The indicator prominently displays the total number of photos taken on that device for the specific event/location, a commonly requested feature.
• Detailed Upload Breakdown: Simply tap this number to see a clear status report: how many photos are successfully uploaded and how many are still waiting to be uploaded.
• Diagnose Issues with Smart Color-Coding:
  • Green – Uploads Working Normally:
    • Meaning: Photos are uploading smoothly. All systems go.
    • What Your Team Should Do: No action needed.
  • Yellow – Uploads Paused (Internet/WiFi Issue):
    • Meaning: Uploads are paused due to an internet issue (e.g., no internet, or device not on WiFi when “WiFi only” uploads are enabled).
    • What Your Team Should Do: Check the device’s internet/WiFi connection and settings.
  • Red – Uploads Paused (Potential Error/Stall):
    • Meaning: Uploads are paused for a reason other than internet connectivity. This occurs if pending photos haven’t changed in over 15 minutes, suggesting uploads might be stuck (potential app, server, or other issue).
    • What Your Team Should Do: Try restarting the RaceDay Mobile Timing app. Then, if unresolved, check settings, or contact support for assistance.
