We are in the process of upgrading our infrastructure for our API to ensure we are ready for the future that AI will bring to our platform.
As part of that upgrade, we are asking that developers begin to use api.runsignup.com as their url endpoint for API access. For the test environment, use api.test/runsignup.com.
Over time we will also be introducing a similar structure for our AI based MCP tools. We see MCP’s eventually creating a huge new load of requests on our system. For example, our new RunSignup AI Chatbot will be using our MCP’s for our beta customers this month to provide additional information like results as well as giveaways and add-ons.
Over time those MCP’s will be generally registered on the public LLM’s like ChatGPT. Imagine runners being able to use ChatGPT or Gemini to look at all of their times on races on RunSignup and compare their performance across seasons and years with age grading scales put into graphs.
We also expect to develop additional AI Agents to provide dashboard and data access to authenticated event directors for their events. For example, event directors will be able to ask for the % of under 30 year old participation for their event over the past 10 years.
The new api.runsignup.com is another step in the direction of this AI future we are all heading towards.
