Note: This guest blog comes from Tina Muir, founder of Racing for Sustainability, an organization dedicated to equipping endurance events and races with the tools to operate more sustainably.
We’re excited to introduce Racing for Sustainability, a new nonprofit created to support organizers of small and mid-sized races who want to reduce their environmental impact but lack the staff, budget, or bandwidth of a major marathon.
Many races don’t have the resources to implement green initiatives. That’s why Racing for Sustainability was created – to remove those barriers to sustainability by offering affordable, practical tools and guidance to help races of all sizes adopt more eco-friendly practices.
There are thousands of race directors who want to make their race sustainable but don’t know where to start—or assume it’s too expensive or complicated. We created Racing for Sustainability with them in mind.
Racing for Sustainability’s membership portal is hosted on RunSignup, enabling race organizers to easily join RFS and to implement initiatives such as offering a t-shirt opt-out or adding a non-binary gender category to their race registration from their RunSignup account.
