This past weekend at the Prairie Fire Marathon was the first race in Kansas to offer RaceJoy’s mobile experience. Thanks to race organizers and Fidelity Bank, people were treated to a very unique race experience that included all RaceJoy’s bells and whistles! From official race timed alerts to live phone tracking and cheers, the Prairie Fire Marathon delivered some serious Race Joy!
Fidelity Bank sponsored the full RaceJoy experience on behalf of race participants and their supporting family and friends, and 2,100 people took full advantage of this complimentary experience.
As a Featured Race in RaceJoy, users received official race-timed progress alerts that included pace and estimated finish time based on the person’s bib tag crossing timing points on the course. RaceJoy integrated with the race’s timing service provider, GoRace Management & Timing, who used MyLaps timing equipment on race day. This timing company was very receptive to RaceJoy’s technology and took extra steps to ensure the 12,700+ progress alerts were immediately issued as race participants crossed these milestones on the course:
Marathon:
- Start
- Mile 6.2
- Mile 13.1
- Mile 20
- Finish
Half Marathon:
- Start
- Mile 6.2
- Finish
Participants have the option to post these progress alerts to their social media sites to share their race experience with those not at the race site, and more than 500 timing alerts were posted to Facebook and Twitter.
Also, by integrating with the timing provider, RaceJoy was able to provide scored results for finishers, including individual results, as well as overall and age-group results.
First Place Marathon Finishers!
And there is more! Thanks to Fidelity Bank, users were also able to take advantage of RaceJoy’s advanced interactive features like live phone tracking, audio cheer clips, and NearMe alerts – all at no charge. Typically, there is a 99 cents upgrade for these features. Close to 500 runners/walkers chose to be tracked during the race. Supporting fans made full use of RaceJoy’s Send-a-Cheer feature with almost 2,500 cheers being sent to participants. Now those are some supportive fans!
Check out this fun cheer!
The race also opted to have all their important race information into RaceJoy to provide convenient access to race related information in one location, including packet pick up, awards, race schedule, FAQ, etc.
