The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon this past weekend in Louisville, KY offered RaceJoy’s live phone tracking and cheer sending for a unique race experience. The race organizers provided RaceJoy’s live tracking and progress alerts as a complimentary service for its participants and spectators.
Close to 1,000 people used RaceJoy for the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon. Runners who carried their phone received GPS-based progress alerts at every mile on the course, with 15 alerts being sent out per participant (includes start and finish). RaceJoy issued 11,500 progress alerts that provided unofficial GPS performance time, including pace and estimated finish time.
Supporting spectators, both onsite and from the convenience of their homes, also received the alerts and were able to watch the runners move along the course in a map view.
Friends and family members really embraced RaceJoy’s cheer feature sending double of what we typically see, with more than 2,500 cheers going out on race day. We had fun sending scary Halloween cheers to runners as they passed the graveyard on the course. Especially, the There’s No Turning Back foolish mortals cheer!
Urban Bourbon Half Marathon
The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon is a unique race, catering to those 21+. The course pours through the settings that make Louisville one-of-a-kind and showcases 200 years of bourbon heritage and culture – starting at the historic Whiskey Row, winding through the Scenic Loop in front of Cherokee Park, and finishing on Main Street in front of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.
