RunSignup University Independent Study: New and Overlooked Features

We recently held our inaugural RunSignup University. The two day event gave attendees an opportunity to deepen their product knowledge and get the most out of RunSignup. Being there in person was certainly the best way to learn the most, but seats were limited and not everyone who wanted to attend was able to.

With that in mind, we’re sharing some of the best bits from RunSignup University in weekly installments and giving access to full presentations for those interested in doing a little self-guided learning.

Think of it like an independent study course, minus the quizzes and mandatory advisor meetings.

New and Overlooked Features

RunSignup has a lot of features. Keeping up with all the new releases can be tough to do if you’re not in the product every day. With that in mind, our Vice President of Sales Bryan Jenkins put together a list of some new and overlooked features races can use to their advantage.

The features cover a wide range of areas like:

  • Marketing
  • Websites
  • Email
  • Registration
  • And more…

Below are a few highlights from the presentation.

Click-to-text social share

This social share option gives registrants the option to quickly send out referrals through a text message. You can choose to share the link on confirmation pages, as well as in a confirmation email. Click-to-text is a great way to increase personal referrals for your event and helps you improve your reach.

Prebuilt volunteer emails

Almost all races rely on volunteers to some degree to keep things moving smoothly. RunSignup now has prebuilt volunteer emails. These email templates make communication with volunteers faster and easier. That’s not the only update we’ve made. Learn more about all our recent volunteer communication advancements here.

Apple Wallet

Searching through your inbox, or photo album to find your ticket QR code can be a hassle, but it’s now a thing of the past for iPhone users. They’re now able to add tickets purchased through RunSignup directly to their Apple Wallet. It’s incredibly convenient for runners, and can help speed up check-in on event day.

Custom favicon

You often hear people say, “it’s the small things that make the difference.” We couldn’t agree more, which is why we added custom favicons for our race websites. A favicon is the small image that shows on a browser tab. Small touches like that can make a race website feel more professional, and instill an additional level of confidence in potential participants that your race is the real deal.

Fundraiser incentives

Fundraising for an event is a satisfying all on its own, but if you can add a little more incentive for people to push a little harder, why not? Fundraiser incentives are exactly what they sound like. Prizes for people who hit certain fundraising milestones. You can have set incentives or let people choose from a variety of options.

RaceDay Photos participant uploads

Have you ever noticed sometimes the best pictures from an event are ones someone took on their phone? With RunSignup’s participant photo uploads runners are able to upload their own images. It’s a great way to engage participants further and get access to some great shots you may not be able to otherwise.

Invoicing

RunSignup’s invoice feature lets you make professional invoices quickly and easily. With it you can manage and track invoice statuses, as well as record offline payments. The invoice tool can also automatically calculate and remit taxes, further saving you time and energy. Best of all, it’s free to use.
