RunSignup Q1 2026 Update

The Quick Summary:

  • The Endurance Community continues last year’s upward trajectory with event participation in Q1 up 5% year over year and transaction dollars up 9%.
  • Total Transaction volume is up 12% vs. our plan of about 9%, always a nice thing to be ahead of plan (mostly due to increased market share in endurance).
  • Our RunSignup endurance events business is continuing to enjoy market share growth. We are reaching 60% market share in the US. And we continue to grow with the number of races up 14% (up over 2,000 races) and the number of registrations up 14% (up over 338,000 registrations) from last Q1.
  • New TicketSignup pricing of 40¢ per ticket plus standard credit card fees. Early results are very positive.
  • Our Customer Service AI Chatbot has been a hit, with over 1,300 customer websites using it to answer thousands of participant and attendee questions per week. Customers are reporting a substantial decrease in customer service emails and calls.
  • We are ramping our use of AI both for our development team and for our customers. We are estimating that by year end we will be spending $60,000 per month that will benefit our customers (putting our profits to good use!).
  • Our technology platform continues advancing with over 500 releases in Q1.
  • We announced our Community Grant winners receiving $10,000 of donations.
  • We hosted over 100 timers at our annual Timer Summit in January. We will host our RunSignup University for Race Directors in June – we hope to see you there!

Our employee owned company shares our high level numbers and thoughts on the market and technology advances on a quarterly and yearly basis – 20122013201420152016201720182019202020212022202320242025.

Q2 Numbers

Another solid quarter overall as we overachieved on our registration, transaction and profitability goals. This performance continues to make our employee owned company the safe choice, providing the best technology and support for our event customers now and in the future.

The endurance market continues to gradually expand. This chart shows the races on RunSignup in both 2025 and 2026, so it is a direct YOY comparison:

We had nice growth in the number of races using RunSignup. Some of those continue to be from registration vendors closing down their products or companies like Chronotrack, Enmotive and Stack/Get Me Registered/RaceWire.

Here are more detailed numbers in terms of race churn (races over 500) that did not recur in 2025 and Q1 of 2026, as well as races lost to competitors. The no race churn is historically low at only 3.2% and the competitor churn is also incredibly low at 1.1%. The new race growth of over 500 participants continues to be strong:

AI Development Productivity Will Double our Output by Year End

While we had a lot of releases in Q1 for our customers, the single item with the most impact is the fact that Anthropic’s February release of Opus 4.6. This was a watershed moment for software development. It became clear that during the year, AI would be writing code and our development team would be guiding the AI. We did a in depth blog about Doubling our Development Productivity in 2026 a week ago. We drill down into what is happening, and how we are ramping our adoption.

One of the measures of our AI use is the tokens used by our development team the past several months. In March we had 2 developers use over 1 Billion tokens costing over $1,000. The team in total grew from 2 Billion tokens to 7 Billion tokens in 3 months:

With the increased individual productivity, we will be adding AI agents into our development release process:

AI Code Review Process

We are also using Claude CoWork and Agents in our business operations to improve efficiency and increase quality.

AI Product Infrastructure

Most of the development we have been doing for customer use has not been released. Q2 will be the real beginning of substantial releases based on our new AI Infrastructure.

Investing in our own AI Infrastructure that is part of our secure, scalable infrastructure hosted on Amazon AWS was important to us. We feel that AI will be in every single function, dashboard page, participant management feature, etc. that our customers use. For example, we want participants to type or talk to our Chatbot that they want to change from the marathon to the half marathon. We want event directors to ask free form questions and refine their summary graph charts rather than have the specific reports we provide today.

As we have discussed, this blending of AI technology with the transactional data in RunSignup is the key to unlocking value for our customers.

Stay Tuned – the excitement is real. Here is a taste of Claude talking with our Coupon MCP on a test machine. The top grey bar is the prompt – “get me the coupons for race 21”. The rest is the response with real data from the test machine of the different coupon codes and usage and discounts with different breakdowns of the data:

The MCP can also create and edit coupons with natural language prompts and refinements.

Website V2 Becomes The Standard in Q2

We have made a huge investment in our Website V2 product. It has been the default for every ticket event created the past couple of years, and it is about to become the default for new races set up with our Wizard. We have had thousands of races move from the legacy Website capability to Website V2, so it is well tested and proven. In addition, we have several other super exciting enhancements coming in Q2:

  • Website V2 Standard in Race Wizard
  • Image Gallery for all Banner Images – meaning you can share all images across all your events in both Websites and Email.
  • Website Template Choices – Choose from several different look and feels to our new website.
  • Event Lists – Makes it easy to cross promote events.
  • Video Banner – yes, we are finally getting this one out the door!

Hosting your website on RunSignup has become a no-brainer with all the other features of our website – AI Chatbot for customer service, bring your own domain, choose your own fonts and colors, easy adding and editing of your content, complete synchronization of your data (price increase components, leaderboards, results, photos, etc.) security, performance, Google and AI high visibility, automatic affiliate network listing and traffic, and the preferred place for millions of people to register for races.

Why does anyone have a separate WordPress website anymore?

Summary

Our employee owned company continues to be grateful to our customers who allow us to have the best jobs in the world. Building and support technology for events. Thank you for your continued trust – we will keep trying to earn it every day.
