Two Overlooked Ways to Boost Per Participant Revenue
There are a lot of costs associated with putting on an event. You have to pull permits, pay fees to municipalities, hire vendors for different things like food or timers for a race. All those costs add up. Some rely solely on...
In every journey, there comes a time for change, a moment to bid farewell to a familiar face who has contributed immensely to the path we've walked together. Today, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and best wishes to Crisp McDonald, a cornerstone of our timing community, as he transitions from his role at RunSignup to dedicate more time to his thriving timing business, Go Race Productions.
Our development team just released an update to RunSignup’s integration with RACE RESULT 12. This update includes support for corral assignment syncing and some minor adjustments and bug fixes.

We have a Timer Success Position open and are seeking a Timer who wants to transition from timing to a full-time position at RunSignup. This role will provide a meaningful impact in helping to modernize the timing community
Our live Timer Tip Tuesday webinars are a valuable resource for timers. We use these to provide product education on the latest technology, share tips on timer tools, and answer timers questions. In addition, we sometimes host a timer to share their best practices with others and dive into their timing business. We are now inviting timers to host their own Timer Tip Tuesday or other webinar to cover topics they feel other timers or their race organizers will be interested in. Timers can take advantage of this to share information with fellow timers or to help inform race organizers of the various tools and services timers bring to the race.
This update introduces new features for Lap Events, particularly for “Last Man Standing” style races, where the last finisher of each lap is eliminated from the course. The new Report Fields that have been added allow Timers to create custom leaderboard reports…
We just completed the 2024 Winter Timer Tour where our EventDay team traveled to four cities to meet with nearby timers. We took the opportunity to give an updated on our RaceDay Suite of timer technology, show product demos, answer specific product questions, and get feedback for our development team. In addition, we shined the spotlight on those timers in attendance who completed all four RunSignup timer certifications and announced the 2024 Alan Jones Timer of the Year award winner, Adam Shelton with Start2Finish. Special thanks to all of you who braved the weather conditions and joined us. It was so great to be able to see you in person!
Unless you host something like the New York City Marathon, chances are you want more people at your event. And with race participation numbers getting back to pre COVID levels in 2023, there’s a lot of opportunity to attract new people to…
We have been doing the US race registration market analysis every 6 months for many years. We include a ton of analytical data, and also include our analysis of happenings and directions in the market (of course that analysis is done from our perspective and is sometimes biting to competitors, but tries to be honest). This began because we as a business need to take a hard look at how we are doing against a competitive landscape and figured as long as we were doing the analysis, we would share it.
Today, technology advancements now means any sized race can offer many of the same race day features that even the largest races, like the NYC Marathon, offers. All races can now offer real time tracking, split alerts based on timing equipment on the course, officially scored finish times within seconds of participants’ finishing, txt notifications, online photos, and more. In addition, newer technology innovations like dynamic bib assignment are bring a host of advantages such as reduced cost, greater efficiencies, and more revenue by allowing registration to remain open even after the gun goes off. But much of this is kind of a mystery to race directors, and this blog aims to help race directors understand all that is available to them so that they can deliver the quality of a big race experience regardless of the event size and budget.
We have just released an update to our RACE RESULT 12 Integration with a few changes and bug fixes. Non-Binary Registration Syncing RACE RESULT uses “a” for the gender value for Non-Binary registrants. With this latest change, as long as the RACE…
